BASKETBALL: Chester squeaks past DMS, #204 moves to 2-0
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The DuQuoin Middle School Girls Basketball Team continues to participate in the District #204 Tournament this week. On Tuesday evening, Chester pulled out a victory by one point with a score of 35-34 over DMS. DMS girls' record for the season is 0-5 and 0-2 in the tournament.
DMS was led in scoring by Andrea Morgan with 12 points. Alaina Caldwell had 8, Sydney Lewis 6, Kat Robison 4, Jordyn Bullar 3, and Brittany Clark 1.
Coach Debbie Ritter thought, "The girls looked much better tonight. Finally, we had some shots falling, but we were streaky. One minute everything looks picture perfect, then next we are playing on our heels. I had some real good things come from my guards tonight.
Andrea Morgan, Sydney Lewis and Alaina Caldwell all stepped up tonight and played well. Kat Robison gave me some excellent minutes in the last few minutes of the game scoring 4 points."
DMS plays Pinckneyville District #50 on Wednesday evening in the 6:30 game.
<u> #204 cruises past T-SB</u>
Pinckneyville District #204 improved to 2-0 in their junior high girls' basketball tournament on Tuesday with a 41-10 win over Tamaroa-St. Bruno.
Sophia Keith led the Lady Tigers with 19 points, Maggie Sanders added 8, Taylor Smith 5, Lindsey Taylor 4 and Torrie Carter 4.
Olivia Szczepanski led the way for T-SB with 8 points.
The Lady Tigers meet Steeleville at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow while Tamaroa-St. Bruno takes on TSJ at 5:15 p.m.
<u>Sparta slips past PJHS</u>
Sparta improved to 2-0 in the large school pool at the #204 Tournament with a 29-28 over Pinckneyville Junior High School (District #50).
The Junior Lady Panthers were led by Raygan Yates' 17 points. Morgan Gleason added 6, Daisy Dudek 3 and Brooklyn Morrow 2.
On Monday night, PJHS opened their #204 Tournament with a win over Chester 34-27.
Dudek led the way with 12 points, Gleason added 9 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Yates (7 points) and Morrow (6) also chipped in offensively for the Junior Lady Panthers.
PJHS meets DMS on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
