Election Petition Filing Begins Nov. 28
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Petition filings for the March 20, 2012 General Primary Elections begin Monday, November 28, according to Perry County Clerk Kevin Kern.
Next year Perry County voters will elect a Circuit Clerk, State's Attorney, Coroner, and Supervisor of Assessments, all for four-year terms. One County Commissioner position (the seat current held by Bobby Kelly) is also up for election to a six-year term.
Interested candidates must file a statement of candidacy, petition signatures from registered voters of their political party and other documents in order to become a candidate, Kern said. In addition, candidates for State's Attorney must be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Candidates for Supervisor of Assessments must meet certain qualifications and be certified by the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Candidates for all offices must file between Monday, November 28 and Monday, December 5. The General Primary (partisan) will be held March 20, 2012. The General Election is November 6, 2012.
In addition, precinct committeemen will be elected in the February primary. A Republican, and Democrat precinct committeeman may be elected from each of the County's 27 voting precincts. Petition forms for committeeman are also available in Kern's office. The filing dates are also November 28 to December 5.
