Defensive intensity was the story throughout the game, where DMS led 7-4 after seven minutes, 18-12 at half and 28-18 after the third period.

Also scoring for DMS were Jarred Thomas with 9 points, Tucker Kuhnert 7 and Brock Bullar 4. Thomas led in rebounding with 7.

DMS had 14 steals in the game, 12 total assists, and 11 turnovers. The Warriors improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Coach Ryan Heape commented, "All in all, defensively it was not a bad game. I was disappointed with a couple of plays. We missed about 5 uncontested lay ups. That really make the game look a lot closer. We were 1-9 from the three point line. We just did not get them down. We had a few mistakes on the press. We played a good defensive game. Coach Brian Kellerman (Pinckneyville) does a good job with his team. They compete really hard."

Clayton Houghland led PJHS with 13 points, Caulden Lazenby had 8, Jackson Brand 2.

In the seventh grade game, Pinckneyville took an early lead at the end of the first quarter at 8-0. At the half, the score was Pinckneyville 14-4, and the final score was 32-23.

Caleb Vogel led the Warrior scoring with 8 points. Tevin Lee had 6 points, Braden Heape 3, Jordan Edwards 3, Nick King 2, and Lakota Ricker 1.

Coach Jacob Emling commented that "we have to play all four quarters in the game. Pinckneyville outscored us in the first quarter; we stayed with them the rest of the game. We just have to learn to play all four quarters."

Pinckneyville was led in scoring by Justin Bauersachs with 12 points, Dylan Carns and Nick Cannon added 6 apiece.

Du Quoin plays at home on Wednesday evening against Centralia while PJHS hosts Sesser.
