Boyd Earl Copus

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Boyd Earl Copus, 83, of Bourbon, Mo., formerly of Pinckneyville, passed away at 11:31 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital at Sullivan, Mo.

Boyd was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Army. He worked at General Motors in St. Louis, Mo. until his retirement as a fork lift driver. He was a member of Local 25 United Auto Workers. He was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville. Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, hosting family reunions, and spoiling his grandchildren. He had foster-parented several nieces and nephews.

He was born May 16, 1928 at Randolph County, Ark., the son of Ira Greenbury and Vallie Clementine (Scott) Copus.

He married Genelee Hart on April 9, 1955 at St. Louis, Mo. and she preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 2000. He later married Glenda Smith on May 17, 2007 at his home in rural Pinckneyville and she survives his passing.

He is survived by his wife of Bourbon, Mo., two sons - Darrel Earl Copus and wife Carolyn of Tamaroa, Ira Luther Copus and wife Rachel of Pinckneyville, one daughter-in-law - Patricia Copus of Smiths Grove, Ky., three sisters - Cozet Johnson of Thayer, Mo., Nellie Gray of Nixa, Mo. and June Cox of Gassville, Ark., one brother - Milburn "Fat" Copus of Hardy, Ark., four step children, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son - David Lee Copus, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at the Beaucoup Baptist Church at Pinckneyville with Rev. Bert Mitchell officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial was in the Concord Cemetery at Rice, Ill.
