Johnnie Mays

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Johnnie Mays, 63, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:40 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at Oak Grove, Mo.

Johnnie had been a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was born Aug. 16, 1948 at Henderson, Ky., the son of LeRoy and Fannie (Holeman) Mays.

He married Susan B. Pinkstaff on July 20, 1979 at Springfield, Mo. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four daughters - Penny Berry and husband David of Henderson, Ky., Kristi Bechtold and husband Rob of Naples, Fla., Kari DeHart and husband Charles Scott of Du Quoin and Kassi Mays and friend Kevin Peterson of Carterville, Ill., two brothers - Roy Mays and Philip Mays, both of Henderson, Ky., and three sisters - Dora Canton and Nancy Morgan, both of Henderson, Ky. and Betty Mattingly of Corydon, Ky., 11 grandchildren - Megan Rice, Mallory Rice, Isreal Bechtold, Araceli Bechtold, Jacob Bechtold, Olivia Bechtold, Mallory Bechtold, Joshua Webb, Hunter John Mays, Reese DeHart and Ethan Scott DeHart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services were at Noon, Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends called from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children&#39;s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
