Michael Earl Rodgers

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Michael Earl "Mike" Rodgers, age 53, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at 8:32 a.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Mike was born on Sept. 21, 1958 in St. Louis, Mo., a son to Truman Earl and Bertha May (Lucas) Rodgers. On Nov. 18, 1978, he married Nancy Carol Tague in Fort Dodge, Iowa and she survives. He was a member of the Red Bud Jaycees, Red Bud Lions Club, Du Quoin Eagles and volunteered for the Perry County Meals on Wheels program. Mike was a caring and giving person and dearly loved caring for his family and helping people.

Michael is survived by his wife, Nancy Rodgers of Du Quoin, Ill.; one son Shanan (Lisa) Rodgers of Valley Park, Mo.; one daughter Hydie Rodgers of Elkville, Ill.; mother Bertha May Rodgers of Du Quoin, Ill.; four sisters, Trudy Rodgers, Bonnie (Terry) Carrico, Alice (Robert) Portell, Carolyn Rodgers; two grandchildren Juliana Rodgers and David Nance,; six nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Truman Earl Rodgers; one sister, Nancy Rodgers; one niece and one nephew.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Michael's wishes were to be cremated.
