City firefighters were called to the 524 East Main Street home belonging to Rob Tilley.

At this writing it is not known whether the home was vacant.

When firemen pulled up to the scene, flames were already coming through the roof of the home on the north side of East Main in the block just west of North Line Street.

Firemen were still at the scene when the newspaper went to press Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Firemen will begin their investigation later Tuesday.

It is the third house fire in the last ten days in Du Quoin.

A Thanks-giving Day fire destroyed the former home of Du Quoin Chief of Police Ken DeMent. The third callout involved a flue fire at an East Park Street home.

Firemen say the house was locked and unoccupied when they arrived.
