Chester Yellow Jacket fans will see a new face patrolling the sidelines at the boys basketball games this season. Brad Norman takes over as Chester's head coach after previous stints at Dongola and Century high schools.

Coach Norman knows that this year will be a little bit of a learning experience but feels he has the tools to be competitive.

"I currently have a pretty evenly balanced team about ten players deep" said Norman. "We do not have a lot of experience returning at the varsity level, so I would assume early in the year that we will make some mistakes. Hopefully we will learn from them as the year goes on."

Norman was a little reluctant to single out key players or leaders but did mention that his team could frequently have a size advantage this year thanks to 6'7" Reed Koeneman and 6'6" Kyle Landon. They are part of a large junior class that also includes Caleb Arbeiter, Link Cushman, Dalton Misuraca, Chris Schwartz and Alex Weir. Seniors on the roster are James Brockmeyer, Matt Heberlie and Greg Rowold.

When looking at the schedule and goals for the season, Norman mentioned that winning the Chester Tournament and bringing home a regional title would be at the top of the list. He is also looking forward to Black Diamond Conference battles against top teams like Trico and Sesser-Valier.
