Luechtefeld reminds veterans' families about free tax assistance

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld (R-Okawville) is reminding veterans and their families about a program that enables them to receive free assistance in preparing their tax returns.

Illinois' military personnel, active duty and National Guard members who are currently deployed or recently returned from active duty are eligible to receive free tax preparation.

The 24,000 members of the Illinois CPA Society are showing their appreciation for the dedicated men and women of the U.S. military by offering free personal tax preparation services to anyone who is deployed or recently returned from a combat zone or other qualified hazardous duty area. CPA Society members will match service personnel with local tax preparers to find full tax benefits, exclusions, filing and payment extensions available to qualified individuals. Service personnel are encouraged to use this service if they do not have an existing relationship with a tax professional. The service is available year-round to service personnel and family members.

For further information, please visit the ICPAS Web site at www.icpas.org/militarytaxrequest or call 1-800-993-0407, extension 277. All members of the military who are Illinois residents and are either deployed or have recently returned from a combat zone, are eligible for this service.
