</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On the same weekend that she gave John A. Logan College her signature on a letter of intent, Jessica Hirsch became Du Quoin High School's all-time leading scorer in girls basketball and led the Lady Indians to a 41-24 victory at Trico with a game-high 20 points.
The senior guard eclipsed previous record-holder Brittany Jenkins' career total of 1,288 points and finished the afternoon at 1,298 and counting with five regular season games, a minimum of two games at the Carbondale Girls Invitational, and the postseason remaining on the schedule.
Hirsch, who will play both softball and basketball for the Lady Vols, signed with John A. Logan on Sunday with parents Shannon and Denise at her side. She was named to the SICA All-South Team for both sports during her junior season at DHS.
In the Saturday afternoon game which preceded the boys' varsity and J-V games between the same two schools, the Lady Indians led just 10-9 at the break before outscoring the Lady Pioneers 15-9 in the third quarter and 16-6 in the fourth.
Rebekah Maddox (7 points), Alexis Kohrs (4), Taylor King (4), Cassidy Rice (3), Bailie Caldwell (2) and Kelsey Robinson (1) also scored for Du Quoin.
The Lady Indians also won the girls' J-V contest 33-18 to improve to 3-8 overall.
Du Quoin (17-4, 5-1) returns to the floor on Monday in Carbondale for round one of the mid-winter tournament where they will meet Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m.
