Vasquez Fitness Center donates $500 to Chester Stingers Youth Football Program
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Stingers Youth Football Program has been a success thus far. They are now in the process of raising $35,000 through fundraising efforts, business and personal donations, and registration fees. The league will start in August 2012. They will be playing against neighboring towns including Sparta, Red Bud, Pickneyville, Nashville, Waterloo, Columbia, Dupo, Freeburg and Mascoutah. Including Chester, these are the teams that comprise the Southwestern Illinois Football Conference.
This program is a great opportunity for the youth of this town. Not only does it provide the opportunity for children ages 5 to 13 to play football, it also gives children the opportunity to participate in the cheerleading aspect of the program. By teaching children the fundamentals of football at a young age, it will give the High School Football Program the advantage that the neighboring towns have had for many years. This program will also bring economic benefit to the businesses in Chester.
The next fundraiser will be held on Saturday, February 25 at the Chester Eagles. It will include a Trivia Night and Silent Auction. The Silent Auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. and Trivia will follow at 7:00 p.m. Trivia teams will consist of 4-8 players and will be $15 per person or $110 for an 8 person team. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Several businesses have already offered generous donations. There is still money that needs to be raised in order to ensure the successful implementation of the fall program.
