Leona F. Cheatham
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Leona F. Cheatham, age 82, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at 2:40 a.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon, Ill.
Leona was born on Feb. 21, 1929 in Wheatfield Twp, Ill., a daughter to John and Dorothy (Huddlestun) Wright. On Aug. 21, 1946, she married Calvin Cheatham in Greenville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2005. She was a member of Old Du Quoin Baptist Church, Du Quoin, Ill. She had retired as a floor supervisor at Bridal Originals, Sparta, Ill. and after retirement she still made wedding and prom dresses from home. Leona was very active and enjoyed flowers, sewing and raising chickens and dearly loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Jan) Cheatham of Du Quoin, Ill.; three grandchildren, Roger (Laura) Cheatham of Macomb, Ill., Tim (Michele) Cheatham of Carbondale, Ill. and Carrie (Richard) Wildermuth of Pinckneyville, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Calvin Cheatham, Devin, Nicholas, and Noah Cheatham, Chayenne Ferguson and Cooper Wildermuth; several nieces and nephews and many other dear family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Cheatham; an infant daughter, Dorothy Cheatham; two brothers, Burl Wright and Donnie Wright and a sister, Hazel Carpenter.
Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Ted Clark officiating. A private family interment was in Noffsinger Cemetery, Pleasant Mound, Ill. at a later date.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Ill.
