Lois Virginia Shockley
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lois Virginia Shockley, 95, of Du Quoin, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her loved ones, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 12:15 p.m. at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
She was a homemaker and known for her homemade dumplings and sugar cookies. That tradition will be carried on to her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin.
She was born Sept. 21, 1916 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Jeff and Clara (Alvis) Scronce.
Lois was united in marriage to Ralph Shockley, Sr. on Oct. 3, 1936 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1994.
She is survived by three sons- Donald (Terry) Shockley, David (Ann) Shockley and Ralph (Tannya) Shockley, Jr. all of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Jason (Becki) Shockley, Donna (Russell) Lively, Donnie (Alisha) Shockley Jr., Joel (Jen) Shockley, Gina (Keith) Richardson, Michelle (Steve) Kinsey, Angie (Danny) Porter, and Steven Shockley, great grandchildren- Syaria Shockley, Meagan Lively, Karli and Ian Shockley, Cellestine Williams, Makayla Richardson, Emily, Elizabeth, Matt and Ben Shockley, Eli and Emma Kinsey and Levi and Laynee Porter, brother- Webb (Ruby) Scronce of Du Quoin, two sisters- Mary Kelly of Boulder, Nev. and Betty Christian of Highland and many nieces and nephews, also.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers- Eugene Scronce and Dwight Scronce, two sisters- Helen Smith and Lola Scronce.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends called from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin, TIP Hospice or the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
