Gerald L. Opp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gerald "Jerry" L. Opp, 60, of Yucca Valley, Calif, formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away Jan. 17, 2012 at home. Jerry was born Nov. 22, 1951 to Gerald and Faye Opp.

Jerry graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School and from Eastern Illinois University. He taught school in St. Croix for a few years and then worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines. After retirement from the airline, Jerry worked for Cruise One.

Jerry is survived by a sister, Judy Needham; cousins, Donald (Ruth Ann) Opp, Samuel (Judy) Opp, Kay Montgomery, Natalie (Randy) Ellington, Jeff (Sandy) West, Donna (Henry) Neicamp; aunt, Kay West and special friend, Beurt Nygaard.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Faye Opp and a brother-in-law, Bill Needham.

A memorial service was held at St. Bruno Church in Pinckneyville on Feb. 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating.
