Mary Taylor Rowlet
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Taylor Rowlett, 80, of West Frankfort; died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton with Rev. Karl Barnfield officiating. Burial was in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation was from noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Mrs. Rowlett was born on April 7, 1931 in Benton, the daughter of Fred and Maude (Easley) Taylor. On Nov. 25, 1976 she married Rubin Lee Rowlett blending their families together as one. Rubin preceded her in death on July 4, 2010.
Mary, in her working days, served as a dispatcher and secretary for both the Benton and West City Police Departments. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Benton, and was a member of the East Benton Baptist Church.
She is survived by five children: Mary Alice and husband P.J. Russell of Martin, Tenn., Bill Hammond and wife Julie of Benton, Peggy Hammond of West Frankfort, Tim Rowlett and wife Rosalee of Arizona, Rose and husband Guy Alongi of Du Quoin; 13 grandchildren: Deede Warren of Oakwood, Tex., Richard Gipson of Owensville, Ind., Brandi Wingett of Princeton, Ind., Sydney Hammond of Benton, Mike Hammond of the U.S. Marines, N.C., Nick Allen of Energy, Jordan Allen of Energy, Donald Bixler of Akin, Cristy Bixler of Carlyle, Tim Rowlett of Peoria, Ariz., Christopher Rowlett of Salem, J.R. Alongi of Carterville, Shawn Alongi of DuQuoin, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rowlett was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers: Jim, Frank, Jack, Donald Gene and Bobby Joe Taylor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Senior Services in West Frankfort and will be accepted at the funeral home.
