Methodist Church celebrates Scout Sunday

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The First United Methodist Church in Chester recently celebrated Scouting Sunday with a special recognition of all scouts and adult scouters. During a segment of the 10:05 A.M. Worship Service all Scout personnel involved with Scouting were praised and recognized.

The following individuals from FUMC were honored: Cub Scouts: Ashton Reiman; Boy Scouts: Kolby Nation; Eagle Scouts: Jeffery Beers, Jimmy Beers, Chris Herschbach and Tom Welge; Committee Members: Dr. Jim Beers and Jack Herschbach; and Scout Leaders: Mesha Reiman, Pastor Keith nation and Kayla Nation.

Pastor Keith Nation, who is a Scout Leader himself made notice of several famous Scouts well know in the United States including eagle Scouts Henry Aaron, The Home Run King; Neil Armstrong, The first astronaut to step on the moon; Willie banks, Olympic and World Record Track Star; Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City.

The list continues with James Brady, Press secretary to President Ronald Raegan; Gerald Ford, 1st Eagle Scout to become United States President; J, Willard Marriott, Jr., President of the Marriott Corporation; Michael Moore, Author and Filmmaker; Steven Spielberg, Movie Producer and John Tesh, TV celebrity, Musician and Pianist.

Other famous non-Eagle Scouts include: Jimmy Buffet, Musician and Singer; George W. Bush, President of the United States; Walter Cronkite, newsman; Harrison Ford, Actor; Bill Gates, Founder of the Microsoft Corporation; Barak Obama, current President of the United States; and Jimmy Stewart, Actor and World War II Pilot.

The Methodist Church has conducted a ceremony to recognize scouts for many decades and members in attendance on Scouting Sunday take part in the service by serving as speakers, singers, worship leaders, ushers, etc.
