St. Mark's Celebrates National Lutheran Schools Week
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ St. Mark's began their National Lutheran Schools Week celebration with the students singing "Everywhere I Go" in the St. Mark's Sunday morning church service. This was followed by a brunch in the school gym. Since the theme for the school year is Our Journey of Faith, attendees at the brunch were invited to take a "penny hike" throughout the school.
Throughout the week classes will search for beads with witness symbols on them and the students will be encouraged to wear certain colors each day that reflect the stages of the Faith Journey. Monday is black to remind us of the darkness of our sin. Tuesday is red for the blood Jesus shed on the cross to save us. Wednesday is blue for the water of baptism that washes us clean. Thursday is green for our growth in faith. Friday is gold or white for heaven.
Various visitors will help us learn about faith journeys during the week. Christ Our Savior students and principal will join us on Tuesday and Pastor Lukomski will share a special message with the students and school volunteers on Wednesday. On Thursday David Britton will share his musical talents with us and Friday, after our VIP luncheon and chapel service, Kirk Rueter will talk to us about his personal journey of faith that led him from Nashville, IL to the major leagues and back.
