Liz extended her deep appreciation to Kroger store manager Ashley Batson and her staff for their help.
All told, the relief effort raised $508 Harrisburg and gifts included a $25 Kroger gift card from Sarah Fieker--daughter of longtime Du Quoin pastor Fred Fieker-- 12 truckloads of supplies and two flatbed trucks.
There were dozens of cases of water, cleaning supplies, clothing, baby items and even a set of mattress and box springs.
Woodsides and Batson were joined by friends Gina Cushman, Sarah Fieker-Dickey, Joe Myers of Sesser, Jim Dimitroff, Richard Rottscalk and several members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
At the outset, organizers were told to take items to the National Guard Armory in Carbondale, but instead wound up taking them directly to the Harvest Ministry on the outskirts of the devastated Harrisburg tornado area.
That ministry is providing food service and food pantry items to those in need.
