Du Quoin House Destroyed in Fire

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[An 11:35 p.m. fire Saturday night destroyed the home of the owners of the Royal Rose Cab Co. in Du Quoin.

The home is owned by Michael and Eleanor King, and firemen say the house is a total loss.

Firemen are calling the fire accidental and the cause has not yet been determined.

Firemen say the blaze started in the very back of the home. In fact, one Du Quoin firefighter said that when they arrived they thought the fire may have started on the outside at the back of the home, then spread to the inside.

Later, they determined the fire actually began in the home.

Firemen got to the scene immediately and were at the scene until 3:55 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Du Quoin Fire Department received mutual aid from Dowell and Tamaroa firefighters.

The couple lost everything in the blaze and an eMail to the newspaper over the weekend said they are asking for clothing donations, but at this writing it is unclear as to where the donations should be taken. We will have that information in Tuesday's edition.

Woman's size 10 jeans and large shirts and size 7 shoes.
