Kenneth Myers Erwin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Kenneth Myers Erwin, age 73, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at 10:20 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Ill.

Kenneth was born on July 25, 1938 in New Madrid County, Mo., a son to Myers E. and Agnes M. (Baker) Erwin. On June 11, 1983, he married Janet West in Pinckneyville, Ill., who survives him. Kenneth worked as a tool maker at McDonnell Douglas, retiring after 31 years. During his time there he worked in the model shop building prototype model airplanes and helped engineer the Apollo, Mercury and Gemini space mission crafts. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., enjoyed wood crafting and was an avid pilot. Kenneth dearly loved spending time with his family and will be missed by his family and friends.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Janet Erwin of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two grandsons, Nate and Wes Fisher; two sons, Ron (Susie) Weeks of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Tim McKinney of Du Quoin, Ill.; two daughters, Dianna (Dick) Thimmig of Sparta, Ill. and Susan (Rob) Brown of Salem, Ill.; three brothers, Larry (Sandy) Erwin of St. Charles, Mo., John (Jan McNiff) Erwin of San Antonio, Texas, and Dan (Susie) Erwin of Ferguson, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Beth Fisher; a special uncle, Woodrow "Uncle Woody" Baker and special cousin, Don Baker.

Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
