Robert Lee Milligan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Lee Milligan, 79, of Litchfield, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 4:04 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1932 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a son of Willard William and Audrey Emma (Anderson) Milligan. He graduated from Pinckneyville High School. He obtained his BS in Agriculture, Masters in Education and Advance Certificate of Ag all from the University of Illinois in Urbana. Mr. Milligan was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an Agriculture Teacher in Marissa, Mascoutah and Litchfield for a total of 24 years and later retired from Litchfield School District. He also farmed in Raymond for 26 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. In his religious life he served as Deacon, Trustee and Elder and had also taught adult Sunday School. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping and collecting antiques.

He married Charlotte McCann on July 15, 1956 in Cobden, Ill. She survives. He is also survived by: one daughter, Charlotte (Dan) Gallagher; two grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Gallagher, all of Naperville; two sisters, Irene Weber of Sparta and Nancy Williamson of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Milligan

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Bob Zirkelbach, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, officiated.

Visitation was held Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial was in Galum Cemetery near Pinckneyville, Ill., on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Montgomery County Cancer Association or First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield.
