Frankie E. Hunter

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Frankie E. Hunter, 79, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:37 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence.

Frankie had worked as a mine examiner for Peabody Ballwin #1 Coal Mine. He was of the Christian faith. He was a 12-year U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Du Quoin Eagles and a past member of the Du Quoin V.F.W.

He was born March 10, 1933 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Thomas and Grace (Wright) Hunter.

He married Patricia Joyce Barnes on April 17, 1953 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2009.

He is survived by his children - Steven Allen Hunter of Du Quoin, Rickey Hunter of Du Quoin, Linda Arendell of Coulterville, Debbie Reeves and husband Chuck of Tamaroa and Aaron Hunter and wife Kelli of Marion, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from Noon until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Shriners Crippled Children&#39;s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
