Jessie R. Summers
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Heaven received another angel on Sunday evening, March 18, 2012 when Jessie R. "Bobbie" Summers, 88, of Benton, went to be with the Lord.
She was born in Corinth, Ill. on July 2, 1923, the daughter of Sherman and Jeanette (Vinson) Carter.
She married Julian R. "Harpo" Summers on Jan. 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1993.
Mrs. Summers worked for 50 years for Akin's Jewelry in Benton.
Mrs. Summers is survived by her: two sisters: Audra Cox of Richland, Washington and Jean Battershell of Richland, Washington, nephews and nieces: Michael Powell and wife Deborah of Du Quoin, Rodney Powell and wife Linda of Thompsonville, Patti R. Burlison and husband Ronald of Benton, Carolyn Montague and husband Larry of Washington, Kathryn Doran and husband John of Washington and Lori Sportelli and husband Jim of Washington State, great nephews and great nieces: Raymond "Ramie" Burlison and wife Vanessa, Rebecca Powell-Furlow and husband Jason, Adam Powell, Jessica Minton, Seth Powell, Sarah Powell, Ryan Young and wife Chila and Carrie Wallace and husband Nathan and great great nephews: Noah Minton, Raymond "Ramie" Burlison Jr. and Major Vance Burlison
Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister-Dorothy Powell and a baby sister- Ruth.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23 at the Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Ron Cremeens oficiating. Burial was in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation was after 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Funeral home.
