Nelson Leyba
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nelson "Buck" Leyba, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:51 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Buck had worked as a miner at Kennecott Copper Mines for 42 years. He was of the Catholic faith and had attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was born May 20, 1926 at Bingham Canyon, Utah, the son of Ezequiel and Altagracia (Martinez) Leyba.
He is survived by three children - Jackie Eichbauer of Wichita, Kans., Michael Leyba of Pinckneyville and Larry Leyba and wife Rachael of Rochester, Minn., five siblings - Pete Leyba of Ocoee, Fla., Frances Cordova of Tooele, Utah, Sadie Brothers of Mesquite, Nev., Dorothy Montoya of Mesquite, Nev. and Viola Montoya of Taylorsville, Utah, 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
Per Mr. Leyba's request, cremation services were held.
Private family services were held at a later date.
