SOFTBALL: Lady Panthers trounce Trico for fifth straight win

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Lady Panthers banged out 18 hits in a 16-2 trouncing of Trico on Monday, extending their winning streak to start the 2012 season to five games.

Second baseman Jordyn Wieland was 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple and five runs batted in to lead the way for Pinckneyville. Wieland has now hit safely in eight of her last ten plate appearances and is hitting a robust .714 (10-for-14) in three games this season.

Kayla Harris picked up her first pitching victory of the year at Trico, allowing two hits, four walks and a pair of hit batters while striking out two.

Shersty Stanton was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Taylor Howard (2-3) and Dani Schoenbacher (2-4, 2B) each drove in two runs. Keelyn Stein (2-4, RBI), Maddie Jones (2-4, 3B, RBI) and Alyssa Hirsch (2-4, RBI) also had multi-hit games for PCHS.

Pinckneyville (5-0) will look for win number six on Thursday when they host Steeleville. PCHS will then host the Panther Invitational on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31.
