CHS Frosh / Soph take Second

At the Chester High School Freshmen/Sophomore Meet, the boys and girls track teams each finished in second place. The meet was held April 5 at the CHS Complex

On the girls side, Nashville finished first with 204 points followed by Chester (145), Sparta (61), Columbia (25), Anna Jonesboro (24), Steeleville (20) and Pinckneyville (17).

First place finishers for the Lady Yellow Jackets; McKenzi Rucker in the long jump with a leap of 16' 2" and the 200 (:28.7). Sarah Bindel in the 100 hurdles (:13.5). Maribeth Lawrence in the triple jump with a leap of 29' 2" and the 400 (1:05.6). Rachel Clendenin in the 300 hurdles (:52.9). Mikayla Atchison in the 800 with a time of 2:48.7. Chester won the 400 relay with Sarah Bindel, Kaley Ludwig, Rachel Clendenin and Maribeth Lawerence finishing with a time of :54.6.

Taking second place finishes were Alexandria Fedderke in the 200 (:29.6). Bindel in the 300 hurdles (:53.2) and Clendenin in the 100 hurdles (:17.9) .Chester finished second in the 800 relay (Rucker, Ludwig, Katie Brukhorst, Fedderke) (2:02.0) and in the 1600 relay ( Lawerence, Clendenin, Brukhorst, Atchison) ( 4:36.8). Chester also received points with Fedderke finishing third in the long jump (14' 9") and fourth in the 100 (:14.2) and from Bindel who tied for third place in the high jump (4' 2").

The boys meet was won by Sparta who finished first with 140 points. Followed by Chester (115), Columbia (90), Nashville (85), Anna Jonesboro (72), Pinckneyville (42) and Steeleville (2).

Taking first place individuals for the Yellow Jackets were Andrew Frazer who won the long jump with a leap of 19' 7" and the 400 (:54.8)and Issaic Wingerter in the high jump with a leap of 5' 6" and the 300 hurdles (:46.5).

Also putting points on the sheet for Chester was Frazer who finished second in the 100 (:11.6) and in the 200 (:24.0) . Wingerter finished second in the pole vault (8' 6"). Robin Bochert finished third in the high ump (4' 8"). Jared Johnson finished third in the 110 hurdles (:20.3) also finished fourth in the triple jump (31' 2.5"). Hunter Howie finished fifth 800 (2:29.5) and sixth in the 1600 (5:34.1). Caleb Golding finished fifth in the 300 hurdles (:49.9) and Nick Rinehart finished sixth in the 100 (:11.8) and sixth in the 200 (:25.5). In the relays, Chester finished fourth in the 3200 (9:57.9), third in the 400 (:50.1), fourth in the 800 (1:45.0) and third in the 1600 (4:06.6).
