Thelma Marie Kujawa

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Thelma Marie Kujawa, age 92, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in Fair Acres Nursing Home, Du Quoin, Ill.

Thelma was born on Jan. 21, 1920 in Freeburg, Ill., a daughter to David "Earl" and Sara Marie (Reese) Slusher. On Feb. 29, 1936, she married the love of her life, Sylvester John Kujawa in Nashville, Ill. and he preceded her in death after 51 beautiful years of marriage on Nov. 2, 1987. She was a homemaker and worked briefly at the Garment Factory, Pinckneyville, Ill. and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. for many years and was very active in Women's Missionary Union of the church. She was a prayer warrior, loved to garden, tend to her chickens and help her husband with his farming. She could make the very best chicken and dumplings and pies and she enjoyed cooking meals for hay baling workers in her younger years. She will be sorely missed by her many relatives and friends.

Survivors include her children, Lester (Ruby) Kujawa of Du Quoin, Ill., Marilyn Jones of Du Quoin, Ill. (special friend Richard Zweiski of Ashley, Ill.) and John (Lynn) Kujawa of Atchison, Kans.; seven grandchildren, Pamela (Randy) Plunkett of Eldorado, Ill., Loretta (Ken) Auld of St. Peters, Mo., Denise (Mark) Burke of Naperville, Ill., Nancy (Gary) Callis of Surprise, Ariz., Gregory Jones (friend Christie Piper) of Du Quoin, Ill., Suzanne (Joshua) Smith of Chicago, Ill. and Jonathan (Ashley) Kujawa of Easton, Kans.; one granddaughter-in-law, Angella Kujawa of Dodgeville, Wis.; 15 great-grandchildren, Andrea (Tim) Austin, Joy Beth (Brad) Costevens, Bret Plunkett, Jenny, Penny and Matt (Katie) Auld, Kathleen, Susan, Laura and Sarah Burke, Justin, Jordan and Josh Williams, Kyle Callis and Bruce Kontz; two brothers, Nelson (Barbara) Slusher of Tremont, Ill. and Delmar (Elaine) Slusher of Goodfield, Ill.; one sister, Margaret Guenther of Washington, Ill. and many nephews, nieces, cousins and several step- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester Kujawa; a grandson, Garry Kujawa; two sons-in-law; four brothers, Lawrence Slusher, Melvin "Skip" Slusher, Virgil Slusher and one in infancy and three sisters, Madge Sronce, Evelyn Ballheimer and Norma Stanley.

Funeral services were held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
