"They singled us to death," said EHS head softball coach Donette Wheatley. "Corrine didn't give up any extra base hits, but we let a couple of those singles get by us and those girls ended up scoring."

The Lady Falcons managed just four hits off of Goreville starter Brittney Pritchett.

"We have to do better on the base paths, too" Wheatley added. "We have to learn from these mistakes now because we are young, and hopefully it makes us better for next year."

EHS starter Corrine Wilson retired the side in order in the first, but gave up seven base hits in the top of the second. Pritchett, Ashlee Webb, Shelbey Miller and Haley Darnell had RBI in the inning.

The Lady Falcons responded in the bottom half with their only run of the game when Kelsey Leland singled home Erika Will with two outs after Will had tripled. Elverado would add just a pair of singles the rest of the day.

Miller (2-5, R, RBI), Pritchett (1-3, HBP, R), Webb (2-4, R, RBI), Darnell (2-4, R, 2 RBI), Taylor Odom (2-3, BB, RBI), McKenzi Schaede (1-4, R) and Sydnee Rushing (2-4, 2 R) did the hitting for Goreville. Pritchett picked up the win, striking out five and walking two.

For EHS, Will (2-3, R) and Leland (2-3, RBI) both had two-hit games.

The Lady Falcons (11-11, 2-6) host Eldorado on Thursday.
