BASEBALL: Panthers whip Waltonville 15-0
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joey Burris allowed just a pair of hits in the first inning and none the rest of the way as Pinckneyville cruised past Waltonville 15-0 behind a six-RBI day from third baseman Evan Chapman.
Bryant Shute put the Panthers up 1-0 with a first inning single to bring in Hunter Queen, then after a pair of strikeouts, Chapman singled to right scoring Shute and Dylan Hardin.
Pinckneyville poured it on in the bottom of the second with a seven spot. Hardin had a two-run single and Burris and Chapman added RBI during the rally.
C.J. Opp doubled to drive in two runs in the third before Chapman blasted a three-run homer to left to complete the offensive rout.
Shute (3-4, 3 R, RBI) had three hits on the day he signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Rend Lake College.
Chapman (2-3, HR, 2 R, 6 RBI), Hardin (2-2, BB, 3 R, 2 RBI), Opp (1-3, 2B, BB, 2 R, 2 RBI), Burris (1-2, 2 BB, 2 R, RBI) and Colton Nelson (2-3, R, 2 RBI) also had hits for the Panthers.
Burris went all five innings allowing no runs on two hits and four walks with five Ks to pick up the victory.
Pinckneyville (13-12) hosts Harrisburg (20-7-1) on Friday at Rigdon Field.
