106 Graduate from Du Quoin Middle School
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[One-hundred and six Du Quoin Middle School graduates were honored Friday during a promotion ceremony held in the grandstand at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
The graduates will be welcomed by an all-new Du Quoin High School this fall.
The ceremony recognized students for academic, extra-currcular and community achievements during their careers.
The processional onto the stage was followed by a welcome to parents and friends from student council president Alaina Caldwell.
Eighth grade musicians joined first-year Du Quoin Middle School band director Emily Plumlee in performing "Canticum" by James Curnow in their last performance as eighth grade class members. Those members include Alexis Lilly, Sydney Sanders, Grace Loyd, Andrew Smith, Brittany Clark, Abigail Vancil, Carlie Daffron, Jordan Heahterly, Katlyn Sanders, Gabrielle Alvarado, Antonio Aguiniga, Aiden Porter, Taylor Gates and Charlee Furlow.
The performance was followed by the presentation of special honors and awards by principal Adam Hill and Dean of Students Jeremy Cornett (photos of recipients in today's Du Quoin Evening Call).
Members of the Board of Education presented students with their diplomas followed by a closing class farewell from Hannah Marek.
