Daniel Mathis
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Daniel "Mark" Mathis, age 51, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 4:25 a.m. in his home.
Mark was born on Sept. 19, 1960 in Du Quoin, Ill., a son to Daniel L. and Gladys (Campbell) Mathis. On Oct. 11, 1980, he married Lillian Bathon in Todds Mill, Ill. and she survives. He had worked as a coal miner for Captain Mine for 13 years then later as a car detailer at HiWay Motors, Red Bud, Ill. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church and the U.M.W.A. Local #1392 and dearly loved music and playing drums.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Mathis of Pinckneyville, Ill.; a daughter, Jacie Mathis of Pinckneyville, Ill.; three sisters, Nora Beth (Larry) Helvey of Pinckneyville, Ill., Susan (Ted) Knapp of Mount Vernon, Ill. and Cindy (Michael) Cluck of Herrin, Ill. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Ella Bathon; a son, Dustin Daniel Mathis; a sister, Linda Petty; a brother-in-law, Carl Bathon; a niece, Rhonda Helvey.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, May 4, 2012 with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery, Todds Mill, Ill.
Friends called at Oak Gove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family of Mark Mathis.
