Herbert E. Hurst

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Herbert E. Hurst, 83, of Marion, passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.

It was Mr. Hurst&#39;s wish that his body be cremated and no services conducted.

Herbert Eugene was born Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1929, in Blunt County, Tenn., to Harvey and Stella (Murphy) Hurst.

He married Mollie Heisler on Thursday, Sept. 29, 1977, in Danville. They shared nearly 35 years of marriage and raised seven children; she survives in Marion.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Mollie; children, Jim and Carol Hurst of Pasadena, Don and Sheila Haggard of Du Quoin, Jane and Ron Tuey of Livingston, Rose and Larry Oldham of Clifton, Susan and David Allen of Fairberry and Cindy Beaumont and Krystal Dalpra, both of Marion; his beloved canine companion, CoCo; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and siblings, Jack and Myrna Hurst and Margaret Graham, all of Maryville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Stella; two sisters and two brothers.

Herb served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. He was quite the people person, traveling to Harrah&#39;s in Metropolis to bend the ears of the many tourists who entered the casino. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Blue Funeral Home in Marion was in charge of arrangements.
