Michael L. Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Michael L. "Mike" Smith, age 62, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 12:58 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, Ill.

Michael was born on July 13, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., a son to Everett and Mary (Muelhauser) Smith Jr. On Oct. 20, 1973, he married Ginger K. Hutchings in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2009. Mike was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. and was a veteran on the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a welder at Cooper B-Line, Pinckneyville, Ill., for 35 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Suvivors include two children, Adrian Smith and Michelle (Bryan) Hook, all of Marissa, Ill.; a brother, Ronald (Terri) Smith of Hillsboro, Mo.; a sister, Kathy Smith of Belleville, Ill. and three grandchildren, Jacob Musielak, Kaydence Hook and Gabrelle Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one sister, Marsha.

Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tom Foster officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
