Tommy Lee Fischer

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Tommy Lee Fischer, age 67, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away after a long battle with cancer at 5:40 p.m., on Sunday, April 22, 2012, in the Veteran's Community Living Center a part of the Veteran's Medical Center of Marion, Ill. At his passing the Veteran's Community Living Center performed a "Walk of Hero's" as his body was removed from the center.

He was born on Monday, Nov. 6, 1944, in Du Quoin, Ill. the son of Harry and Margaret Hester (Smith) Fischer.

Tommy answered the call of this nation during the time of the Vietnam War by serving in the United States Army and after his period of faithful service was honorably discharged.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 647 of Du Quoin, Ill.

Tommy enjoyed spending time with his family and watching and reading Science Fiction.

He is survived by two sisters and brother-in-law, Cathy McClanahan of Du Quoin, Ill. and Sally and Ski Baranowski of Henderson, Nev.; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and JoAnn Fischer of Du Quoin, Ill.; nephew, Bruce Fischer of Herrin, Ill.; two nieces, Andrea Fischer Benedict and husband, Lance of Bloomington, Ill. and Nancy McClanahan Jones and husband, Carl of Du Quoin, Ill.; grandnieces, Emma Fischer, Summer Fischer and Landes Benedict; grandnephews, Marcus Marshall and Cody Jones; special lifelong friends, Ricky and Dixie Overtine and Max and Barb MaCollum all of Du Quoin, Ill. and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements for Tommy Lee Fischer were entrusted to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, Marion, Ill.

In accordance to his request, no services were conducted and cremation was accorded. After cremation his ashes were sent into outer space.
