This morning, Red Bud Police Detective John Brittingham released the following pictures and descriptions of the two individuals involved in yesterday's armed robbery of the Chester National Bank in Red Bud.
The pictures were taken from security footage at the Buena Vista National Bank in Evansville when the suspects were at that bank at approximately 9:30 a.m. The pair was also at the North County Savings Bank in Ruma at approximately 10 a.m. Neither of these banks were robbed.
The pair then robbed the Chester National Bank in Red Bud at gunpoint at approximately 11 a.m. No one was injured during the robbery.
Additional security footage from all of the banks is being processed in hopes of getting a better image of the suspects and their vehicle.
Both the suspects are noted to be African American males.
The lighter skin male is shorter, with his height estimated to be between 5'5" to 5'10". He also was reported to have a tattoo under/to the side of his right eye. It is a stacked tattoo, possibly a fraternity or gang symbol, consisting of a Roman numeral I on top of a circle, which is on top of another symbol that could not be made out.
The darker skinned male's height was estimated to be between 5'11" to 6'2".
There are still mixed reports on the vehicle the suspects used. Originally police were looking for a blue Dodge Charger. Brittingham stated this morning that they are looking for a "shiny" newer, dark colored vehicle, which could possibly be a black Monte Carlo or a blue Chrysler 300.
Originally the police stated the pair were both wearing red shirts. Brittingham suspects that the pair changed their clothes between bank visits. Another possibility is that there was a third individual involved, but only two African American males were ever seen.
So far the police have obtained some evidence including clothing items and fingerprints.
Investigating the robbery is the Red Bud Police Department and the FBI. Both the Randolph County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police assisted in the initial investigation.
If anyone has any information about the robbery, the suspects or their vehicle, they are urged to please contact the police.
