PCHS Demolition to Begin June 4

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Freeman Environmental has been working on asbestos abatement in both the old high school main building and in Thomas Gymnasium since shortly after school let out for the year. The abatement in the main building had to be done before it could be demolished. Demolition is tentatively set for 7 a.m. on Monday, June 4. The date will be finalized early next week.

Freeman Environmental was awarded the asbestos abatement contract for $148,900 at a special meeting on May 7. Other bids went to Rooters American Maintenance for $167,785 for site grading and sewer, Byrne and Jones for $1,368,000 for track and field work and All Purpose Erectors for $283,955 for electrical work on the track and field. The board also voted to increase student lunch prices from $2 to $2.25 and faculty lunch prices from $2.50 to $2.75. The increase was mandated by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
