Du Quoin Boil Order Shutting down Our Favorite Places

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Picking up a cup of coffee and a doughnut at Casey's General Store or sacking up some lunch meat at Krogers or Walmart has become part of our daily routine--interrupted in recent days by recurring boil orders in the City of Du Quoin.

The Perry County Health Department has been in Du Quoin in recent days, inspecting kitchens during the boil order and shutting down those that can't effectively boil water in large quantities. Many of the local gas mart kitchens have been closed as have the deli kitchens at Krogers and Wal-Mart until the boil order--invoked because of a water line break-- is lifted. Public works director Dale Spencer said early this morning he hopes the order is lifted sometime today.
