BASEBALL: Campbell Hill gets early jump on P-DQ #2
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A nine-run first inning for Campbell Hill put away Pinckneyville-Du Quoin's #2 Junior American Legion team before they even came to bat in Wednesday's District matchup. Post 1096 went on to win 13-3 after racking up 19 hits as the visitor at Rigdon Field.
Down 13-0 after the top of the third, Posts 2504 & 647 got on the scoreboard after base hits by Caulden Lazenby, Jacob Louis and Justin Bauersachs brought in a pair of runs. Louis scored again in the fifth after reaching on an error for P-DQ's third tally.
Lazenby (2-3), Louis (2-3) and Bauersachs (1-3) accounted for all of 2504/647's five hits in game one.
Pinckneyville-Du Quoin salvaged the five-inning second game 9-5 behind Miles Chandler's four innings on the mound.
Louis (2-3), Andrew Huggins (2-3), Thomas Huggins (2-2) and Hayden Carter (2-3) each had two hits in the game off of Campbell HIll.
The #2 Junior team is off the rest of this week while the Senior team travels to Murphysboro on Thursday (5:00 p.m.) and Carrier Mills (6:00 p.m.) on Friday. Junior team #1 is at Marion on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
