SOFTBALL: Coutlerville squeaks by #204 11-10
A back-and-forth ballgame ended with the tying run at third base for District #204 as Coulterville squeaked by the Lady Tigers 11-10 on Tuesday in Pinckneyville.
#204 out-hit Coulterville 8-4, but endured several costly errors in the field along with giving up four walks and five hit batters.
Three errors in the first inning allowed Coulterville to jump ahead 4-0, but by the end of the second inning, Pinckneyville had tied things up. Sydney Ginn walked to lead off the bottom of the first and came in on a triple by Jasie Kitowski, then Kitowski singled during a four-run second inning for the Lady Tigers.
In the bottom of the third, Hannah Dascotte doubled and Ginn singled, giving Pinckneyville their first lead 7-5, only for Coulterville to get both runs back in the fourth.
Lydia Pestka tripled and scored in the fourth for #204 to make it 9-7, but again Coulterville responded to tie it. Ginn singled and came in in the fifth to give the Lady Tigers a 10-9 lead, which they held until the top of the seventh.
A leadoff walk and a one-out single led to Coulterville's tying and go-ahead runs, then Pinckneyville failed to take advantage of a two-out hit by Ginn in the bottom half of the inning.
Ginn (3-4, BB, 2 R), Kitowski (2-4, 3B, 2 R), Pestka (2-2, 3B, 2 BB, R) and Dascotte (1-4, 2B, 2R) had hits for #204.
