New $7,658 Camera System Protects Police And Their Suspects

The City of Du Quoin in the coming days will take delivery on a new camera surveillance system for the police department. The system is being purchased at a cost of $7,658 from a company called Security Specialists and replaces a decades-old system originally purchased through a funding gift from the Du Quoin VFW.

The system will locate 10 or more cameras in key areas of the police department and will feed into a digital recording system. The system will be used to protect police from false accusations which may be made by suspects as well as protect the suspects themselves and help secure the building.
