GOLF: Lady Panthers 2nd at SIRR tourney

CARBONDALE, IL - Nashville golfers claimed the top two positions on Tuesday's Mississippi Division leaderboard at the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Championships at Hickory Ridge Golf Course and the Hornettes won the event for the third consecutive season with a team score of 354 in windy conditions.

Medalist Shawn Rennegarbe paced the field by five strokes with an 18-hole total of 74 while teammate Madi May was second (79). Pinckneyville's Heather McDaniel and Carterville's Adrian Brown tied for third at 82.

The Lady Panthers were second in the Mississippi team totals at 392 with plenty of distance between them and third place Carterville (455).

Sarah Carlson (96), Britney Thomas (106) and Alexis Anderson (108) rounded out Pinckneyville's score with Olivia Mathis (112) and Ellie Carlson (131) also competing. S. Carlson's 96 was good for sixth place individually amongst Mississippi Division golfers.

Du Quoin's Marissa Ferguson shot 114 as the only Lady Indian to make the trip to Hickory Ridge.

PCHS's girls (28-10) head to Crab Orchard on Wednesday to face off with Carterville.
