BASEBALL: Edwards leads DMS into Regional final

MURPHYSBORO, IL - Jordan Edwards was 4-for-4 at the plate and tossed all seven innings of Du Quoin Middle School's 12-3 win over Johnston City on Wednesday as the Warriors advanced in Regional tournament action in Murphysboro.

Edwards had a triple and a two-run homer at the plate to go along with five RBIs and allowed five hits and two walks while striking out eight on the mound.

"Good win today," said DMS head baseball coach Tim Craft. "Jordan Edwards really had a great game at the plate and on the mound today. We did a good job of making solid contact at the plate."

Johnston City jumped ahead with a run in the top of the first, but the Warriors jumped all over the Indians with four in the bottom half, then four more in both the second and fourth innings.

Hank Stewart (3-4, 3B), Caleb Vogel (1-4, 2 RBI), Braden Lee (1-2, 3B, 2 RBI), Tevin Lee (2-3, 2 2B), Cameron Spiller (1-3) and Klayton Donoghue (1-3) also had hits for DMS.
