BASEBALL: Offense lifts Tigers over Elverado

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL - Pinckneyville District #204 won their first-round Regional matchup with Elverado on Tuesday 10-3 with hits from all nine spots in the Tigers' lineup.

Rusty Wynn tossed four innings of relief on the mound to pick up the victory, allowing three hits and three walks, but no earned runs.

The Tigers jumped ahead 3-1 in the first inning after RBIs by Grayson Buza, Wynn and Corey Dahn, but the Falcons fought back to trail 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

#204 smacked five hits in the fourth including doubles by Kyle Kreger and Alex Howard and a triple by Buza and entered the fifth up 8-3 before tacking on two more in the bottom of that inning.

Kreger (3-4, 2B, BB), Wynn (2-4), Dahn (2-4, 2B) and Garrett Williams (2-4) each had a multi-hit game for the Tigers, who totaled fourteen hits on the afternoon. Buza (1-4, 3B, BB), Howard (1-4, 2B), Dustin Engelhardt (1-2, BB, SAC), Luke Zelasko (1-4) and Draeden Kreger (1-3, HBP) also hit safely for Pinckneyville.

The Tigers will meet up with St. Bruno-Tamaroa on Thursday afternoon in Steeleville for the next round of the Regional tournament. The winner moves on to Saturday's finals.
