Du Quoin High School Ready to Make the 'Big Move;' Students and Staff Will Occupy New Building on Oct. 10
In pulling up to the new Du Quoin High School to take a photograph representative of making the move into the new building, an employee of the Fager McGee Construction Co. said simply "It's done!" Well, almost one. The old high school will be torn down in the coming weeks and the last component of the project--new administrative offices, nurse's office and lobby--will be constructed over the winter and opened next spring. The Du Quoin Board of Education was advised on Thursday that the move into the new academic facility will begin on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 4 and continue until Tuesday, Oct. 9--Columbus Day weekend. There will be no school on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The first day of attendance in the new school will be Wednesday, Oct. 10.
