GOLF: Hornets dominate at Boys SIRR Tournament
CARBONDALE, IL - Nashville was sixteen strokes better than second-place Carterville at Tuesday's Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference boys golf tournament at Hickory Ridge Golf Course with Hornet junior Jordan Harre taking the individual win with an 18-hole score of 74. Carterville's Jacob Eklund was second overall with a 76.
The Hornets shot 316 as a team to distance themselves from Carterville (332), Sparta (360), Pinckneyville (376), Anna-Jonesboro (381) and Du Quoin (396) amongst Mississippi Division teams.
Nashville golfers claimed five of the top ten overall spots on the leaderboard. Behind Harre, Tyler Wall tied for third with Sparta's Charlie Cunningham shooting 80, Chance Reuter and Brendan Holzhauer tied for fifth at 81, and Kyler Spencer's 83 tied A-J's Joseph Tingley for eighth.
The fourth-place Panthers were led by Kyle Brocaille's 85, which was good for tenth place overall. Lee Wittenauer (93), Will Travis (95), Patrick Kovic (103) and Alec Brand (103) also participated for Pinckneyville.
Du Quoin's Jacob Fisher paced the Indians with a 90, followed by Bradon Woodside (94), Nolan Graham (101), Cole McKenzie (111) and Grant Woodside (130).
Pinckneyville hosts their final boys match of the season on Wednesday at Red Hawk Golf Club with Sparta, Red Bud and Okawville.
