Alleged stabbing spurs arrests in Macomb
MACOMB - Bail was set at $7,500 on Monday for a Macomb man allegedly involved in an altercation early Sunday morning that involved a stabbing.
According to a news release from the Macomb Police Department, Robert D. Anderson, 21, was arrested on two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of mob action for his alleged involvement in the fight.
The release states Macomb Police officers responded to the Kobra Hookah Lounge, 1208 N. Lafayette St., for a fight in progress with possible weapons involved.
Upon arrival, officers were advised of individuals fighting in the 200 block of University Drive. The release states officers again found numerous individuals throughout the area.
During the course of Sunday night's investigation, officers discovered a man had been stabbed during one of the "numerous altercations that were occurring." The man suffered knife wounds to his arms and one knife wound to his chest.
Officers provided medical aid to the wounded man until an ambulance and rescue crew arrived to transport him to McDonough District Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Macomb Police Deputy Chief Eric Lenardt said Monday that while Anderson was arrested for his alleged involvement in the incident, police are unsure if he stabbed the wounded man.
Additionally, the release states Joshua C. Harris, 23, of Macomb was arrested on scene on an unrelated warrant. Jorge Vargas, 22, of Macomb was arrested for possessing 10 to 30 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of the initial investigation Sunday.
The Macomb Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
