Rend Lake Puts Du Quoin on Boil Order
Du Quoin water department superintendent Jeff Whitley Monday night placed the entire City of Du Quoin and any outlying Du Quoin water user on a boil water order after a major break in a 36-inch Rend Lake trunk line that moves water to several of its customers.
The newspaper was notified at 6:17 p.m. Monday evening after repairs to the line were made.
Rend Lake provides service to nearly 60 cities and rural water systems across Souther Illinois.
At the outset, a number of boil water orders were issued across the region. Others will follow this morning.
Currently under a boil order:
The City of Carterville has issued a boil water order for the next 48 hours.
Village of Cambria says the entire village is under a boil water alert until further notice.
Rend Lake has issued a city-wide boil order for the city of Du Quoin.
Hamilton County Water District manager has issued a boil order until further notice.
They are located just outside McLeansboro.
