Perry County Board Prepares for the 2013 Budget Season; Voters Reminded Registration Deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 9

The County Board will hold a special meeting Thursday, Oct. 4 to discuss the 2013 budget with office holders. The new fiscal year begins Dec. 1, 2012.

The budget must be placed on file for public inspection for 15 days prior to adoption. The board agreed to place it on file at the Nov. 15 meeting then call a special meeting Nov. 30 to adopt it.

County Clerk Kevin Kern said there is little change in revenue or expenses from the current year. The only serious variable will be labor costs.

In other business, the board:

• passed an ordinance amending the subdivision code to re-codify roadway easement regulations. The regulations, which have been in place since 2005, will not change. The ordinance simply places them in a different part of the code book. The regulation specifies that easements may be no more than 40 feet wide. However, there are more easement regulations that just width.

• passed a resolution approving an agreement with IDOT to fund 100 percent of the cost of upgrading to retro-reflective road signs. County Engineer Brian Otten said the funding will cover the cost of replacing the signs for Perry County, the Unit Road District, Cutler, Tamaroa and Willisville.

• granted a seven-year special use permit to Amanda McArthur to place a mobile home on Hitt Road and six-year special use permit to John and Gail Waggoner to place a mobile home on Hydrangea Road.
