FOOTBALL: S-V-W-W shuts out Elverado-Trico
Falcons running back Brian McClanahan topped 100 yards rushing for the third week out of the last four, but it wasn't nearly enough for the Elverado-Trico co-op to overcome a dominating rushing attack on Friday night by the Sesser-Valier-Waltonville-Woodlawn Red Devils.
S-V-W-W (5-3) racked up 262 yards on 30 rushing attempts and sprinted to a 46-0 shutout in Sesser, holding the Falcons to 142 yards on the ground and 0-for-12 on passing attempts.
The Falcons fell behind 40-0 before halftime and the clock ran continuously in the second half as a result.
McClanahan (22 carries, 102 yards), Christian Kistner (5-54), Jacob Jeschke (6-(-13) and quarterback Kyle Whittington (2-(-1) had rushing attempts for E-T. Whittington did not complete a pass.
Derek Hood's 139 yards on 13 attempts led the Red Devils. Brandon Cockrum added 8 carries for 88 yards. Trey Witges was 6-for-8 passing for 106 yards.
James Watts led S-V-W-W in receiving with 4 grabs for 70 yards.
Elverado-Trico (1-7) closes out their season at home this Friday when they host Carmi-White County.
