Karl E. Krug
Karl E. Krug, age 78, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in his home.
Karl was born on May 3, 1934 in Olive Branch, Ill., a son to Howard and Anna E. (Rhode) Krug. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from military service after 40 years, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Shirley Morgenthaler in 1954 and later in life married Jeanette Pittman. Karl was a Mason and a Shriner, a member of the Du Quoin V.F.W., Du Quoin, Ill., the Presswood Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, Ill. and the American Thresherman's Association, Pinckneyville, Ill. He was always "quite a character" who dearly loved his friends and family and will be sadly missed by many.
Survivors include his son, Kirk Krug (friend, Fred James) of Marion, Ill.; two daughters, Kim (Steve) Sroka of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Lynn (Scott) Wyciskalla of Du Quoin, Ill.; a brother, Gene (Donna) of Florida; four sisters, Betty Krug of Oakdale, Ill., Oma Lee of Pinckneyville, Ill., Shirley (Carl) Hagene of Oakdale, Ill. and Anna Mae Eaton of Texas; 10 grandchildren, Andy Sroka, Craig Sroka, Jill Sroka, Amie Walters, Dallas Wyciskalla, Nick Wyciskalla, Tyler Wyciskalla, Allie Krug, Derek Krug and Blair Krug; six great-grandchildren, Cody Sroka, Deserea Sroka, Tyrell Wyciskalla, Justin Walters, Jayden Walters and Ryliegh Walters and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Phillip; and a sister, Mary Loos.
Karl was cremated as per his wishes. There will be a celebration of Karl's life on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Lion's Club, Pinckneyville, Ill.
